President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni today campaigned in Madi-Okollo District, where he highlighted the National Resistance Movement’s solid record of service delivery and practical impact on local communities. The visit drew large crowds, with residents acknowledging the government’s work in transforming key sectors across the district.

During the rally, the President and NRM leaders pointed to measurable progress in Madi-Okollo—evidence, they said, that the party delivers beyond political promises.

PDM Impact Reaching the Grassroots

One of the standout achievements is the successful rollout of the Parish Development Model (PDM), with 97.6% of funds disbursed directly to beneficiaries. This high absorption rate reflects the effectiveness of local structures and has accelerated household income generation. Farmers and small business owners have begun investing in agriculture, livestock, and trade, using the funds to improve livelihoods and reduce poverty at the parish level.

Improved Access to Clean and Safe Water

In the water sector, the district has made major progress, with 78% of villages now accessing safe water sources. Boreholes, piped systems, and protected springs have significantly reduced waterborne diseases and the long distances people—especially women and children—used to walk in search of clean water. Community leaders at the rally credited the NRM government for prioritizing rural water infrastructure.

Electricity Connectivity Unlocking Opportunities

Residents were also reminded that Madi-Okollo is now fully connected to the national electricity grid. Electrification has improved the operation of health centers, schools, small businesses, and households. Entrepreneurs are increasingly investing in welding workshops, maize milling, refrigeration services, and local agro-processing, thanks to the availability of power.

Education Expansion Across All Sub-Counties

Education featured prominently in the President’s message, with the government ensuring that every sub-county now has a government secondary school under development or already underway. This initiative is expected to close the gap in access to quality and affordable education, cut down on student dropouts, and reduce the distances learners travel to school. Parents and local leaders expressed optimism about the long-term impact of this investment.

A Message of Continuity and Confidence

The President emphasized that while other political actors are making campaign pledges, the NRM’s achievements in Madi-Okollo speak for themselves. He reminded residents that government programs in the district are not theoretical—they are already changing lives. Supporters echoed the message that the NRM is tested and proven, and best positioned to sustain ongoing progress.

As the campaign season intensifies, today’s rally in Madi-Okollo reinforced the NRM’s strategy of showcasing tangible results as the foundation for its re-election appeal. Residents left the event with renewed confidence in continued development and service delivery under President Museveni’s leadership.
